1383: lilo7 access with managed SSH keys

We have updated the authentication process for login server lilo7 (lilo7.science.ru.nl) as part of a test. As of now, your ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file on lilo7 is ignored. This change is designed to prevent bad actors from easily gaining persistent access. The good news is that we can now grant access to lilo7 from outside the previously very restricted IP ranges. To gain access from a new IP range, you will need to provide us with your public SSH key and the IP range you will be connecting from....

Matlab R2020b available   news

The latest version of Matlab, R2020b, is available for departments that have licenses. The software and license codes can be obtained through a mail to postmaster for those entitled to it. The software can also be found on the install-disc. All C&CZ-managed Linux machines will soon have this version installed, an older version (/opt/matlab-R2020a/bin/matlab) is still available temporarily. The C&CZ-managed Windows machines will not receive a new version during the semester to prevent problems with version dependencies in current lectures....

Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade   news

Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade available for C&CZ managed PCs in the Software Center. We urge everyone to upgrade managed PCs during the next few weeks. End of October this upgrade will be made mandatory, due to the lifecycle policy for Windows 10 products. For C&CZ managed PCs please contact the C&CZ helpdesk for assistance in case of problems. Test of Ubuntu 20.04 on Linux login server lilo7   news

As a test of the new version of Ubuntu, 20.04 LTS, we have installed a new login server lilo7.science.ru.nl. In a few months it will replace the four year old login server lilo5. The name lilo, that always points to the newest/fastest login server, will then be moved from the more than two year old lilo6 to the new lilo7. The new lilo7 is a Dell PowerEdge R7515 with 1 AMD 7502P 2....

Adobe Creative Cloud new version for macOS   news

A new version of the Adobe Creative Cloud software (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop etc., now also Premiere Pro and Audition) is available for macOS, including macOS 10.15 Catalina. The license permits use on devices owned by Radboud University. The installation proceeds through the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app, which gives the choice of RU licensed Adobe products after logging in with an Adobe account. New version of Mathematica (12.1.1)   news

A new version of Mathematica (12.1.1) has been installed on all C&CZ managed Linux systems, older versions can still be found in /vol/mathematica. The installation files for Windows and Linux can be found on the Install-disk, also for older versions of Mathematica. Departments that take part in the license can request installation and license info from C&CZ.

Webmail: Roundcube new version suited for mobile devices   news

The webmail service Roundcube had an major update, with a new user interface, suited for smartphones. Resending/bouncing mails is now also possible. For all new functionality, see the project website. Roundcube has lots of possibilies, like managing the sharing of mail folders with other users and the filtering of mail directly at the moment of arrival at the server. Mail quota enlarged to 5 GB   news

The quota for the Science mailboxes has been enlarged to 5 GB for users that had less quota. Please mail postmaster if you need more quota. The mailboxes are being backed up every evening.
