The latest version of Matlab, R2021a, is available for departments that have licenses. The software and license codes can be obtained through a mail to postmaster for those entitled to it. The software can also be found on the install-disc. All C&CZ-managed Linux machines will soon have this version installed, an older version (/opt/matlab-R2020a/bin/matlab) is still available temporarily. The C&CZ-managed Windows machines will not receive a new version during the semester to prevent problems with version dependencies in current lectures....

Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade available for C&CZ managed PCs in the Software Center. We urge everyone to upgrade managed PCs during the next few weeks. End of October this upgrade will be made mandatory, due to the lifecycle policy for Windows 10 products. For C&CZ managed PCs please contact the C&CZ helpdesk for assistance in case of problems. For other pcs, they can also offer assistance.

A new version of the Adobe Creative Cloud software (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop etc., now also Premiere Pro and Audition) is available for macOS, including macOS 10.15 Catalina. The license permits use on devices owned by Radboud University. The installation proceeds through the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app, which gives the choice of RU licensed Adobe products after logging in with an Adobe account. How can I access my course file? The course files is an network disk that can be attached on campus. Off-campus, VPN must be used to attach this network disk. More info on how to attach a network disk and on using VPN is available. Linux users have the alternative to login with ‘ssh’ on the Science loginserver lilo, followed by a cd to /vol/cursusdossiers. Windows: At ‘File Explorer’, choose the option ‘Map Network Drive’, and type in file://cursusdossiers-srv....
The webmail service Roundcube had an major update, with a new user interface, suited for smartphones. Resending/bouncing mails is now also possible. For all new functionality, see the project website. Roundcube has lots of possibilies, like managing the sharing of mail folders with other users and the filtering of mail directly at the moment of arrival at the server.
