1352: DNS broken for z.science.ru.nl
Due to a misconfiguration of the DNS in the z.science.ru.nl zone, all shares were not available during the outage. Extra tests are added to prevent a future occurrence.
CPK messages are initially sent to the CPK mailing list, you can (un)subscribe via this link. You can also follow the service interruption messages via RSS using the link in the title under the RSS icon. If the CPK takes more time to resolve, any updates are published on this website.
For RU wide service interruption see meldingen.ru.nl.

The router for most Science services urgently needs a reboot. This has been scheduled for early morning. In the unlikely case that this reboot fails, ILS Connectivity is on campus to fix it.
In preparation of the migration to Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (MS EOP), we added another mail exchange server (mx5) to be addressed directly by MS EOP. However, having had mx4 in production for some time, we forgot to test mx5 in conjunction with our mailman server (zaaivm). This could result in a bounced mail ’not accepting messages’ for FNWI users (employees and students) using @ru.nl addresses. Meanwhile, mx5 has been made known to zaaivm thus resolving this issue. ...
After a scheduled reboot of the machine running jupyterhub, jupyter failed to start properly. The service started after invoking a manual start command.
After an upgrade of Roundcube it was temporarily not possible to send e-mails. After a small change in the configuration file the problem was resolved.
The poster printer kamerbreed was broken. It couldn’t be fixed, so we ordered a new HP Designjet Z6 44 inch postscript. The ordering and delivery took way too long, the new poster printer was in operation on November 13. The new printer is twice as fast, so the speed of service will be even better. When our poster printer breaks down, users that need posters can go to Radboud Post&Print.
For an unknown reason, the Jupiter and Chemotion servers didn’t start. We are currently looking at how we can start the machine again. The virtual machines have been rebuild, based on their existing disks.
Ceph filesystem storage is experiencing reduced performance, because one of the storage nodes is currently offline. A combination of factors causes this to affect performance, fullness, uneven distribution of data over the storage nodes. We expect this to be resolved when the node is back in the cluster. update 7 Oct 2023 The cluster is mostly complete again for a while already, but there’s a lot of remaining issues to be resolved by the cluster. Performance may or may not be affected… ...
The RU contract with the anti-SPAM/anti-phishing service Proofpoint expired September 21, 2023, which means that ‘Proofpoint End User Digest’ mails are not sent anymore after that date. C&CZ is migrating Science mailboxes to the anti-SPAM/anti-phishing service of Microsoft Exchange Online Protection. There is an increased chance of receiving SPAM/phishing mails in the Science mailbox during this migration period. P.S. the RU central mailboxes (with addresses ending in @ru.nl) have already been migrated to Microsoft Exchange Online Protection. ...
The Science newsletter is sent from an @ru.nl mail-account. Recently, the @ru.nl mailservice was changed by adding Exchange Online Protection (EOP). EOP is the successor for Radboud University to the Proofpoint e-mail security filter. EOP added a mail header line to the newsletter List-Unsubscribe: https://c8ce19ec62454d21b73b7d5a25559d8f.svc.dynamics.com/t/lu/7... which made the mail appear to be spam to the Science spamfilter SpamAssassin. 1.1 URI_HEX URI: URI hostname has long hexadecimal sequence When we noticed this, we fixed it by welcome listing (allowlisting/passlisting) the sender address communications-science@ru.nl on September 7, so this mail will never be falsely classified as spam. The Radboud Weekly newsletter had the same problem, so communicatie@ru.nl was also put on the welcome list on September 14. ...
