C&CZ is the IT department for research and education of the Faculty of Science of Radboud University. We run the digital infrastructure that science research and teaching runs on, from logins and e-mail to compute clusters and software licenses.

Note

What’s in a name? C&CZ isn’t an abbreviation anymore, but it used to stand for the Dutch Computer & Communicatie-zaken (Computer & Communication affairs). We’ve kept the name out of habit.

What we can help you with

Accounts & access Manage your science account, set your password, enable two-factor authentication, and get remote access through VPN or SSH. We can also help you with troubleshooting and resetting your central Radboud account.

Communication Set up your e-mail (including vacation messages and Sieve filters) and mailing lists.

Data & storage Store files in your home directory, on network shares, or on scratch space. We help with cleaning up disk space, sharing data safely, and managing quotas.

Computing Run jobs on the C&CZ compute cluster and SLURM, use JupyterHub for interactive work and NBGrader for auto-graded assignments, and access Linux login servers. Our on-premise LLM service runs AI models entirely on our network, so your data never leaves the campus.

Code & collaboration Host your code, run CI/CD pipelines, build container images, and publish static websites with GitLab.

Software & licenses Install MATLAB, Mathematica, Maple, Gaussian, OriginLab, LabVIEW, CREST, and Intel compilers. We manage site licenses and maintain a central install share.

Hardware Borrow a laptop from the pool, use a computer lab, get a workstation set up, or print a poster and 3D parts. We also handle PC repairs.

Teaching & research support Prepare course files, run surveys, and keep electronic lab journals.

Security & privacy We provide advice on security, help you recognize phishing, and support you in case of a data leak.

For these, reach out to the ICT Helpdesk

A few things fall outside our scope. For printing, phones, Microsoft 365, the RU website, or network connections, the ICT Helpdesk is the best place to go.
