The latest version of Matlab, R2022b, is available for departments that have licenses. The software and license codes can be obtained through a mail to postmaster for those entitled to it. The software can also be found on the install-disc. All C&CZ-managed Linux machines have this version installed, an older version (/opt/matlab-R2022a/bin/matlab) is still available temporarily. Today the new version of the C&CZ self service site DIY went live. This version also has a completely rewritten back-end, which allows new functionality to be added in the near future. The main new functionality that is available now, is the possibility of logging in with the Radboud ID (employee number or student number) in order to set a forgotten Science password. C&CZ manages a large number of machines that anybody with an Science-account can use. Students can also login to the PC’s in the computer labs, the study area and the library with their S-number and RU-password, in the RU-domain on MS-Windows. C&CZ Information for new students and employees Two logins To get access to computer resources, one usually needs a username and a password. As a student or employee of the Faculty of Science, one gets 2 logins: a RU-number and a Science-name. Below you can read for which services each of them can be used. The Faculty of Science tries to make faculty services accessible with the RU-number, but at this moment this is not yet possible for all services....

A new version (2022b SR1) of OriginLabPro, software for scientific graphing and data analysis, can be found on the Install-disk. See the website of OriginLab for all info on the new version. The license server supports this new version. Departments within FNWI can request installation and license info from C&CZ, also for standalone use. Installation on C&CZ managed PCs is being planned. The Internal Affairs department manages a contract with an external specialized company for the secure destruction/shredding of data carriers. The secure metal container that is used as a temporary cache, can be found at C&CZ as of the new academic year. Employees and students of the Faculty of Science can put data carriers with sensitive data in the container themselves at C&CZ. The C&CZ helpdesk can help recognizing and removing data carriers from desktops, laptops etc....

With the information below in an email to postmaster@science.ru.nl you can request C&CZ to restore one or more files. One problem is that C&CZ cannot be sure that the email-address of the sender of such an email-request is not faked. Therefore C&CZ will first check with the supposed sender. The fastest way is therefore to phone or stop by C&CZ after sending an email with the information below to postmaster@science.ru.nl. If you do that on the day that you lost the file(s), probably C&CZ can very easily copy the file(s) back from the snapshot of that morning....

Because there was too much noise in the new rooms, C&CZ will temporarily move back to the third floor of the Huygens building. We expect that the final move to the ground floor will be in December 2022.
