The server lilo3/4 stalled at shutdown during the monday morning reboot. Solution: power cycle. Cause currently unknown.
The server comas1 did not start due to some possible timing problems between the raid array and OS. Solution: skipping the mount of /vd0 and /vd1 during boot (key S), mounts fixed manually later on followed by exportfs -uaf; exportfs -raf. Machine failed for unknown reason at boot. Solved by rebooting.
Yesterday at ca. 15:52 a SURFnet core router crashed, taking down the RU Internet connection. At 16:09 the connection was restored. This was reported yesterday on a temporary SURFnet service interruptions page and on the ISC/CIM service interruptions page. Details can be found on the SURFnet Network Tickets mailing list.
After a reboot of the print server (and waiting ca. 10 minutes) printers could be attached again.
As a result of a short network service interruption last night, there were some problems with obtaining ip addresses on the wireless network eduroam.
System crashed possibly caused by an erroneous harddisk causing all CPUs to lockup.
The ISC has announced that on Tuesday morning, October 20, 2015 between 00:00 and 03:00 SURFnet and the ISC will perform maintenance on the connection of the RU with SURFnet/Internet. From 00:00 to 01:30 there is no connection. Between 01:30 and 03:00 short interruptions may occur. We advise to check which systems can be affected by this and if possible shift network activity to a different time slot. You also might think about systems with alerts via Internet....
In the morning of October 8, some KM MFPs will be switched, in order to have the faster/bigger machines at the locations where the print volume is te largest. Wednesday September 30, around 4:00 p.m., Radboudumc will carry out a test by switching off the power to almost all their buildings. For the RU buildings this test has no direct effect. Liander states that switching off and on again will have no noticeable effect on the rest of the power net in Nijmegen including Radboud University. However, switching high power always has the possibility of introducing a power problem elsewhere....
