Mailman not accepting messages   cpk

In preparation of the migration to Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (MS EOP), we added another mail exchange server (mx5) to be addressed directly by MS EOP. However, having had mx4 in production for some time, we forgot to test mx5 in conjunction with our mailman server (zaaivm). This could result in a bounced mail ’not accepting messages’ for FNWI users (employees and students) using @ru.nl addresses. Meanwhile, mx5 has been made known to zaaivm thus resolving this issue....

You can reach this mailserver using a mailclient like thunderbird or one of our webmail clients: Roundcube Rainloop The mailserver has limited space, so we’ve set an initial limit (quota) on the size of the mailbox to 5 gigabytes. When you are notified that your mailbox is getting full, the preferred response is to clean up, for instance by removing the attachments of the largest e-mails in your Sent folder....

Implementation Proofpoint for Science mail   news

Unfortunately, we have recently seen a strong increase in successful phishing attempts in the Science domain, a mailing about this issue was already sent last week. At the same time, we worked hard in collaboration with ILS to also deploy the centrally used anti-phishing tooling from Proofpoint for FNWI. The central RU mail environment has been supplemented with this highly effective anti-phishing measure for some time now. As soon as the Science mail domains are also placed ‘behind’ this anti-phishing tool, things will change for users who have not yet had to deal with this....

Sending E-mail from lilo blocked   cpk

To deal with the ongoing abuse of science accounts for spam, we have disabled the possibility to send e-mail from the linux login servers. This means that the lilos cannot be used anymore to run mutt/alpine or as socksproxy for mail clients. For users with cronjobs, note that cronjobs cannot send output via e-mail anymore. Please change your cronjobs to provide feedback in a different way or discuss an alternative solution with postmaster....
